These are big, but sleek and ultra slim devices with stunning design and awesome capabilities.

In accordance with the incredibly competitive smartphone market, Gionee has recently launched its new impressive smartphone model named as the Gionee Elife E8. On the other hand, Sony’s new M5 is yet another waterproof stunner that is here to stay in the market to impress the buyers.

Sony Xperia M5

Sony’s flagship series Xperia grabbed eyeballs with its great slim, waterproof, dustproof stunners. After back to back releases of the Z3+, Z4v and Z5, now comes M5.

To begin with, the new Sony Xperia M5 is actually the descendent of the M4 Aqua though it has gotten rid of the Aqua moniker. The new Sony Xperia M5 comes with the same IP68 certification to offer water proof and dust resistant capabilities. The sturdy handset can remain unharmed when submerged in up to 1.5 meters of water for up to half an hour.

Again, the M5 like the M4 come with wide range of modifications, both have a Dual SIM model variant. Till now, the Sony Xperia M5 have limited availability in the market, when it actually hits the market all over. So, it will not be cannibalizing the demand and sales of M4 Aqua at least initially.

The Sony Xperia M5 also looks and feels quite similar to its virtual predecessor, as both have the same design language, shape, and even the same screen size of 5.0 inch. Nevertheless, despite all the similarities, the new Sony Xperia M5 is actually a brand new upgrade with overall better quality, be it the enhanced screen resolution of Full HD, higher RAM of 3GB and double camera resolution of 21.5 MP for the rear camera and 13MP for the front. And of course there is the big chipset upgrade.

Let us take a look at the key aspects of the Sony Xperia M5:

Optional Dual SIM support: Comes with a dual SIM card variant named the Sony Xperia M5 Dual.

Vibrant Display: Comes with vivid 5 inch 16M color IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a screen resolution, empowered with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2

Original OS: runs on Android OS version 5.0 Lollipop

Powerful Processor: It packs in a more powerful Octa-core Cortex-A53 clocked at 2.0 GHz of speed; it does not get a QUALCOMM chipset anymore and switches over to MediaTek MT6795 Helio X10, which is supported by the power of 3GB of RAM & PowerVR G6200.

Massive Cameras: It packs in a massive 21.5 MP rear camera with the video recording capabilities of 2160p at 30 fps along with auto focus (Hybrid Phase Detection). It also gets an impressive 13 MP front facing or selfie camera along with 1080p at 30 fps video recording capabilities.

Good Storage: The handset comes with the impressive 16 GB of built-in memory apart from offering the expandability flexibility of a microSD card slot.

Modern Connectivity: The smartphone offers all modem connectivity options including LTE Cat.4 (150Mbps); A-GPS/GLONASS receiver, FM radio with RDS, USB host, Dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n; Bluetooth v4.1.

Superb Sound: it comes with active noise cancellation feature along with a dedicated microphone for great audio experience.

Good backup: It comes with a capable 2,600 mAh battery pack for good backup. However, it is a non-removable battery, which is a disadvantage.

Dust & Waterproof Features: Comes with IP68 certification offering dust resistance and water resistance capability of up to 1.5 meter for 30 minutes.

The Gionee Elife E8 comes with a premium price of Rs. 35000, which is a disadvantage, as people who would like to pay such a hefty amount would rather prefer the big mobile brands and not Gionee, though the mobile comes with premium built and features. On the other hand, the Sony Xperia M5 is listed for around Rs. 27000 at some e-commerce sites, which is bound to fall soon making the price pretty justified for its quality. Both the phones look and feel great, but Sony does have an edge with its brand name and the water and dustproof features.
